What’s new this week at MCC:
If you are 65 and older, or are immunocompromised and it has been at least 4 months since your last vaccine, you are eligible for the 2nd bivalent COVID vaccine. We have a limited supply of this vaccine available at our regular drive through COVID vaccine clinic on Tuesdays from 2:00 to 5:00 pm. If you can wait for a couple of weeks to get your second dose, please do. We expect the supply will improve in the next couple of weeks.
We will have an extra walk in clinic on Wednesday, April 26 from 1:20 to 4 pm. This is in addition to our regular walk in clinic on Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11 and Friday afternoon from 1:30 to 3 pm.
We will be at the Mendocino College Career Fair in Ukiah on Wednesday, April 26 from 11 am to 6 pm. Stop by and see us at 1000 Hensley Creek Road. Can’t make it over the hill? Check out our open positions here:
You can apply online, email your resume to our HR Manager, Karen Arnold, at karnold@mccinc.org, or give Karen a call at (707) 961-4088.
Have a great week!

Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. It could be a young child in the ICU or a mother with Stage 3 leukemia. If you’re worried about needles, don’t be —most blood donors compare the experience to a mild, split-second pinch. The entire process is very safe and very fast, and you will feel amazing knowing you potentially saved up to three people’s lives.

Our friends from Vitalant – California will be in Fort Bragg on April 19 from 1:00 to 5:30 pm and April 20 from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm for a blood drive. You can make an appointment here, or phone 1-877-258-4825. Remember, it benefits us all, because the blood is used wherever its needed, to help complete strangers or friends and relatives. You might be a recipient one day!

For the last three years, Medi-Cal renewals have been suspended. This has meant that those who were enrolled in Medi-Cal were able to remain enrolled with “continuous coverage” during the COVID pandemic.

With the end of continuous coverage on March 31, Medi-Cal will begin processing renewals once again. Those with a renewal month of June forward, will be required to complete their renewal packets. Many people will continue to be eligible. And if they are no longer eligible for Medi-Cal, they may be able to enroll in Covered California.

If you don’t know when your Medi-Cal renewal anniversary is, please contact the department of social services at (707) 962-1000.

When you get the renewal paperwork from the County, you have 30 days to respond.

If you have had changes in family size or income, you will need to report the change to social services or call MCC for assistance.

If you have questions, contact Social Services at (707) 962-1000 or MCC’s Patient Advocates at (707) 964-1251.

Did you know? There’s a Little Free Library at MCC’s pediatrics office on Cypress Street, filled with free books for your little ones to take home. They can bring them back when they’re finished reading them, or pass along books they’d like to share. Read all about it here, and check it out the next time you’re there!
