We are always glad to hear from our patients. If they’re happy, we’re happy. And if something went wrong, we want to know so we can fix it.
It’s been a long battle for everyone in healthcare over the past 18 y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ months, so it’s especially meaningful to receive a heartfelt and generous donation like this one, which reads, “In honor of all of you at MCC who have taken care of all of us through the pandemic.” Thank you from all our staff to this generous donor. It means so much to us!

We have even more reasons to celebrate this PA Week with the recent arrival of Zulia Anderson, PA, who joined our pediatrics team this summer. She was a practicing Pediatrician in Russia for several years before she moved to the United States. Her passion for helping people brought her back to the medical field as an advanced practice provider after being a stay-at-home mom. She is dedicated to pediatrics and uses a patient focused approach in her practice. Welcome, Zulia!
Zulia joins our dedicated and beloved PAs Stefanie Forrester and James Thomas. Stefanie specializes in primary care, and James divides his time between medical and behavioral health.
We are so lucky to have these amazing clinicians on our staff. Happy PA Week to PAs everywhere, but especially to the best PAs anywhere who always give the #bestcareanywhere to MCC’s patients!

Happy Walktober!
Here at MCC, we jump into October feet first with our annual Walktober challenge! The idea is to walk every day during the month of October, whether it’s a walk around the block or a hike through the forest, and enjoy the natural beauty around us. One of our medical providers took this beautiful shot of the sunset from the Coastal Trail on one of her regular evening walks.
Walking is one of the easiest forms of exercise. Start where you are, walking for a few minutes a day and then gradually adding more walking time as your fitness increases.
Join us! Let’s get out there and walk our world! #walktober2021

Mendocino County has expanded their COVID testing schedule here on the coast.

There will be a mobile testing unit available at the Community Center in Mendocino on Monday mornings from 7:00 to 11:00 am.

The mobile testing unit will then be available at the Veterans’ Hall in Fort Bragg on Monday afternoons from 1:00 to 7:00 pm.

COVID testing will also be available at the Veterans’ Hall from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm every Tuesday.

You can find out more on the County’s testing programs here:

https://www.mendocinocounty.org/community/novel-coronavirus/covid-19-testing

Here at MCC, we are continuing our weekly testing schedule at the white tent at 205 South Street in Fort Bragg on Wednesdays from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and Thursdays from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. You can drive up or walk up, and we ask that you make an appointment if possible by calling us at 964-1251.

Finally…#TeamMCC is giving free, confidential vaccines every Tuesday from 3:00 to 6:00 under the tent. Just drive up or walk up, no appointment needed. We have Pfizer for those aged 12 and up, and Moderna and Johnson & Johnson for those aged 18 and up.

If you are under 18, you will need written consent from your parent or guardian, but they do not need to be present when you get your vaccine or test.

Many of our patients are asking us about COVID vaccine boosters. Here’s what we know so far:
𝗢𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗳𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲. 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗣𝗳𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿.
Moderna submitted their data to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for review just this week. It will take several more weeks before there is an approval. There is currently no recommendation or approval related to boosters for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
While the FDA has approved boosters for certain people, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has not approved the booster yet. We anticipate that there could be a decision as soon as tomorrow, September 24. The CDC could go with the FDA recommendations or make boosters available to certain groups of people or they could make them available to everyone.
After the CDC approves the booster, the matter will move to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). 𝗪𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗖𝗗𝗣𝗛 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. Once CDPH approves the vaccine, we will advertise its availability on Facebook, on the radio, and on our website.
So stay tuned! We’ll let you know as soon as we have any news.
