June marks Men’s Health Month, and from June 9 – 15, we also recognize Men’s Health Week – a time to encourage boys and men to prioritize their health and well-being. Men are often less likely to visit the doctor, but regular checkups and preventive care can make a life-saving difference.

MCC provides affordable, high-quality primary care, including cancer screenings, blood pressure monitoring, and mental health and substance use services.

This month and week, we encourage men to schedule a checkup or screening with a trusted health care provider. From routine check-ups to mental wellness, your health matters — not just for you, but for the people who count on you. ❤️

Our Registered Dietitian Susie is welcoming summer with an easy, delicious salad. This salad is loaded with veggies; juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumber, creamy avocado and a fresh, flavorful lemon vinaigrette!

Cucumber Tomato Avocado Salad

Ingredients

• 1 lb Roma tomatoes

• 1 English cucumber

• 1/2 medium red onion, sliced

• 2 avocados, diced

• 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil or sunflower oil

• 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice, (from 1 medium lemon)

• 1/2 bunch cilantro, chopped*

• 1 tsp sea salt or 3/4 tsp table salt

• 1/8 tsp black pepper

Instructions

1. Place chopped tomatoes, sliced cucumber, sliced red onion, diced avocado, and chopped cilantro into a large salad bowl.

2. Drizzle with 2 Tbsp olive oil and 2 Tbsp lemon juice. Toss gently to combine. Just before serving, toss with 1 tsp sea salt and 1/8 tsp black pepper.

Notes

*Note: Fresh dill can be substituted for the cilantro.

Walking is one of the easiest forms of exercise. Start where you are, walking for a few minutes a day, and then gradually add more walking time as your fitness increases.

PATIENT CARE COORDINATOR

If you are an efficient, friendly multi-tasker with great customer service skills, this is the job for you! The Patient Care Coordinator is the point person for patients calling with questions or making appointments, and helps our staff to facilitate patient flow.

We have even more reasons to celebrate #NationalDentalHygienistWeek this year with the addition of RDH Colleen Boggs to our staff. Colleen started at MCC as a contractor, and within a month of working here, decided to join our permanent staff. We are delighted to welcome Colleen to #TeamMCC. We are delighted to welcome Hilary Kaye, NP, to #teammcc!

Hilary was born and raised in San Francisco. She received her Master’s in nursing from UCSF and her FNP from San Francisco State University. Hilary loves being outside and her interests include food, all things Italian, mushroom hunting and wild food foraging. She is an Iyengar Yoga student. She is enjoying getting to know the beautiful Mendocino Coast. Hilary is so anxious to get to know our area and our patients! MCC is fortunate to have such a vibrant and community minded NP join the team!
